COMMUNITY

The Voices Community consists of pupils who have participated in Voices of Tolerance and vocational secondary (mbo) students. Together they work on a variety of museum activities at the museum and produce an annual artwork for display in the museum.

The young talent programme is based on three key principles: personal development, participation in museum activities and becoming a museum ambassador. The young voices are always central: what do the participants think about freedom and tolerance? What does heritage mean to them and what stories do they have to add?

Community members wanted

Learn new skills, develop your talents and
create art that will actually be exhibited in the museum!

Together with a group of other creative and curious young people, you’ll develop your own perspective on themes such as tolerance, freedom and diversity. You’ll then be given a platform to make your voice heard, both within the museum and beyond.

THE VOICES

  • The best part is that we’re such a close-knit group and we do really nice things we wouldn’t normally do. How often do you get a chance to make a neon work or a podcast?
  • Soraya
  • In addition to giving me a different perspective on life, the community has also given me a whole new group of friends, people I would normally never have connected with.
  • Precious
  • Imagining and creating things isn’t all we do, you could also call us a big group of friends!
  • Jet van Dijk
  • I take part in Voices and the community because I think everyone belongs.
  • Guilliano

ART PRODUCTIONS

Each year, the community produces an art production co-created with professional artists for display in the museum as a temporary exhibit. These productions are an opportunity for young people to express themselves: what do you want to say, what is your message to a wider audience? What’s the best way to convey that, how can you make an impact? Can you make a difference, connect with people, get them moving?
