EDUCATION
Voices of Tolerance invites high school students to make their voices heard about freedom, (in)tolerance and religious diversity. In the program, they become aware that they are part of a diverse and democratic society in which their voices are also important.
The program begins with a visit to Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder. The history of the Attic Church is the starting point for a conversation about tolerance, acceptance and respect in our society today. Aan de hand van interactieve werkvormen nodigen we leerlingen uit om actief naar elkaar te luisteren en hun meningen met elkaar te delen.
After the museum visit, students delve further into this topic during workshops at school. These classes are taught by role models. They address with students themes such as culture, religion, sexual orientation, diversity and dealing with differences.
The program concludes with a high-profile final event. Enthusiastic students from participating schools will gather at Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder, where they will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with influential key figures.
Teaching Materials
In preparation, there is the Voices of Tolerance card game. The card game invites classmates to interact and get to know each other better. The game consists of 52 questions that challenge students to delve into and discuss various issues.
If there is a need for more depth, we have teaching materials available. This material consists of three worksheets and three assignments. The lessons can be used as a series, or the assignments can be done individually. Please email us to receive the teaching materials; we will send them to you. Covering this class material is not mandatory, but it does lay a nice foundation in preparation for the program.
